Occupational Health & Safety Policy

In accordance with the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974, and related legislation, the company regards the promotion and implementation of Health and Safety as a common objective for management and employees at all levels. Health and Safety is of fundamental importance which must be pursued with the same commitment as all other matters relevant to the company’s affairs.

General statement of intent

It is, therefore, the declared policy that the company will, as far as reasonably practicable, effect and maintain a safe and healthy working environment and to extend this policy to any other person who may be affected by the company’s activities. The company will therefore:

  • Comply with relevant health, safety and environmental legislation.
  • Provide and maintain safe plant, equipment and systems of work.
  • Set targets and measure performance in order to facilitate continual improvement.
  • Identify and provide appropriate health, safety and environmental training at all levels – especially in the case of new employees, and provide specialised training where required.
  • Aim to protect people and property by identifying operational hazards and reducing any associated risks to an acceptable level.
  • Provide trained first aid attendants supported by the provision of well maintained first aid kits and the necessary reporting systems in the event of an incident.
  • Use the OH&S Committee to consult with employees on health, safety and environmental matters and ensure that effective communication is maintained.
  • Ensure that contractors/visitors are made aware of their responsibilities whilst present on site and all duties undertaken are within the framework of the Glassbond SMS.
  • Carry out regular reviews of the policy in conjunction with the site SMS in order to assess its effectiveness.
